John relates many different stories, some are humorous, and more are deadly serious. The Northern influence still dominates. John is also deeply involved in the Oral History project which is being promoted by the GSRMA (Garda Síochána Retired Association) and available on gardahistory.com. He is the author of two books on policing, A Question of Honour, Politics and Policing (2020) and Securing the Irish State (2022). This, his third book, is an adaptation of A Question of Honour.
